Funeral Services of 33 years old Prince of Dubai Sheikh Rashid



Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, died from a heart attack at the age of 33 (November 11, 1982 - September 19, 2015). Funeral services were held this evening at Za'beel Mosque followed by his burial at the Umm Hurair cemetery. The Government of Dubai has declared three days of mourning and ordered all flags to be flown at half mast.

OBITUARY - Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum was born on November 11, 1982, in Dubai and educated at the Rashid School for Boys before attending Sandhurst Military Academy in the UK, graduating in 2002. He was an active member of Dubai Cares philanthropic organization and a well-known sports figure.
Sheikh Rashid played a significant role in advancing sports in the UAE, acting as chairman of the UAE Olympic Committee from 2008 to 2012. He was a founding member of Dubai Sports and Cultural Club, for which he was chairman until 2005, when his brother Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed took the position.
Sheikh Rashid was an accomplished equestrian, having participated in international and local competitions and winning laurels for the UAE. He won two gold medals in the 120-kilometre Endurance Individual and 120km Endurance Team Mixed events at the 2006 Doha Asian Olympics.
Sheikh Rashid was owner of Zabeel Racing International and led the individual owners list an unprecedented five times with more than 428 wins.
Sheikh Rashid died of a heart attack in the early morning hours of September 19, 2015. Funeral services were held on the same day at Za'beel Mosque. He was buried in the Umm Hurair cemetery in Bur Dubai.
